A Brooklyn shopkeeper chased down a shoplifter and wrestled back 36 pairs of slippers he tried to pilfer, surveillance video released by the NYPD Wednesday shows.
The crook, wearing a baseball hat with the words “New York” on the front, was looking through merchandise displayed outside J + L 99 Cent on Stillwell Ave. near Bay 49th St. in Gravesend at about 1:50 p.m. on June 10.
He walked off with a cardboard box full of slippers for sale. The 32-year-old worker chased him down the sidewalk and grabbed the box, sparking a tussle over it, the video shows.
