Since the pandemic started, a lot of us have broken up with shoes in favor of a much happier relationship with slippers.

If you’ve been working from home and have yet to go back to the office, we probably don’t even have to convince you of the value of a really comfortable slipper—especially if going barefoot for so long has led to any foot problems, also known as “pandemic toes.“

But anyone whose feet are tired at the end of a long day, regardless of where they work, can benefit from a slipper with arch support since it can absorb shock and preserve the fat pad that acts as a cushion for your foot. Going barefoot (or flapping around in a flat slipper with no support) can actually lead to foot pain according to experts, and who wants that?

“Arch supports are beneficial for those with foot ankle, knee or hip pain,” notes Nelya Lobkova, DPM, a podiatrist with Step Up Surgical Podiatry, PLLC and Step Up Footcare in New York City. “They are also great for those who either walk a lot or run on concrete.”

You might have to hide this pair of puffy slides from your trendy friends because they might be tempted to borrow them and not return them. The Ooahh Luxe slide isn’t a traditional slipper, per se, but it’s well-suited to both wearing inside your home and also venturing out into the great outdoors–maybe to the pool or the spa. You might not have been expecting to see Chacos included in a list of slippers, were you? Consider the Chillos Slide to be a slipper for the person who thinks they don’t need slippers. With adjustable straps like the ones on their athletic sandals, the slides offer arch support in a sleek, streamlined fashion that won’t raise any eyebrows if you accidentally forget and wear them to the grocery store or the yoga studio. Another option from Oofos for people who are looking for something a little different from a traditional bedroom slipper. The Aetrex Shelby Open Toe Slipper is plush and soft, but don’t let it fool you. It has an adjustable strap and will also offer you the arch support that your feet need for stabilization and alignment (plus a memory foam footbed).  So if you’ve had to give up walking around in your house barefoot because of foot pain or plantar fasciitis, try this slipper. According to the manufacturer, each Haflinger slipper has a footbed based on the anatomic shape of a foot. Made of cork and latex, it is designed to adapt to the specific shape of your foot the longer you wear it.  You can buy Haflinger slippers with arch support in a whole array of different colors and patterns. The Arch Rebound slipper is actually a unisex slipper that looks like a sandal with a non-slip sole, so there’s equal opportunity for everyone to slide into a pair.
