The Best Women’s Indoor-Outdoor Slippers for Shuffling Around the House *and* Walking the Dog

The past few years have brought new appreciation for clothing that’s as comfortable as sweatpants, but still chic enough to wear out of the house. And perhaps our favorite new must-have is a pair of indoor-outdoor slippers, aka cozy slippers that have an actual sole (not just padded leather) so we can wear them both around the house and out to run errands without looking like we forgot to take off our PJs. To be honest, it’s a pretty tall order to fill, but we’ve found 15 of the absolute best women’s indoor-outdoor slippers. Now the only difficult part will be deciding which one to add to cart.

These sleeping bag slippers were designed to be carried along in your backpack and worn around your campsite, so of course they’re made with a durable rubber sole and panel at the toe to prevent rips or injuries from stray rocks. And, yes, the back can fold down for an easy slip-on fit too.

A PureWow reader favorite, these comfy slip-ons definitely look more like slippers than shoes, but they do have a sturdy outsole that allows you to wear them out and about if you so choose. We suggest wearing them with classic staples like straight-leg jeans and a white button-up to balance out the PJ factor.

With a supportive footbed and durable faux suede upper, these will give your feet plenty of support. But we also love the somewhat unexpected fuzzy wool lining, which is incredibly soft and warm and a nice departure from the usual faux-fur or shearling.

That said, if faux-fur is you jam, you can’t do better than this classic L.L.Bean pair. They come in six additional colors, ranging from neutral black and brown to vibrant red.

Yes, you could definitely sport regular Crocs clogs as your go-to house shoes, but for an extra dose of cozy we love this lined version. They’ll do a better job keeping your toes warm and don’t worry, you can still affix your favorite Jibitz to the front.

Birkenstock has long been a favorite brand for supportive footwear, especially for outdoor enthusiasts, so investing in a shearling-lined classic Arizona sandal is a total no-brainer in our opinion.

The brand describes these as a “sneaker mule,” mostly because of the super-supportive, shock-absorbing cork sole. (Although we don’t actually suggest swapping out your go-to sneaks for these slippers.) The wool upper is also odor-resistant and will continue to keep your feet warm even if they get wet.

These simple slippers are made from 100 percent wool (save for the grippy rubber sole) and will only get better the more you wear them. Plus, they’re odor resistant, so no need to worry about stinky feet even after years of use.

Another slipper designed for backpacking, these puffer slip-ons are incredibly lightweight and are lined with a plush fleece for extra comfort. They’re also water resistant so you can wear them in just about any kind of weather.

These come recommended by a particularly picky PureWow editor. “I have very specific expectations for a house shoe—they must be supportive, but also have slight bounce and supremely squishy-ness. Most house shoes are either too flat or too shoe-like for me, but these check all the boxes!” She also appreciates that back strap, which can be pushed over the top for a true slip-on silhouette or help secure your heel as you tromp around outside.

We came for UGG’s signature ultra-comfy shearling lining, but it was the decorative trim that really sold us on this slip-on style. (P.S. Looking for something extra fun? Check out the brown cow print version.)

Another PureWow editor recommendation, this super-fluffy pair definitely looks like slippers, but don’t let that stop you from rocking them all over town. (Go on, embrace your inner maximalist.) “I’m actually on my second pair because I wore the first ones out. My only note is that the sizing is S/M/L and tends to run small, so if you’re between sizes I’d say go up one.”

This beautifully simplistic design is perfect for snuggling up by the fire but won’t look out of place on a last-minute grocery run to pick up snacks.

These slip-ons can be worn either with the back folded down or up and come in seven beautiful colors. One thing to note, however, is that they run a little small, so if you’re between sizes we suggest opting for the larger.

We came for the faux-fur lining but stayed for that lush memory foam footbed. And the durable rubber heel. And the cute cross-stitching detail. And the affordable price tag. And…
